Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to help grow Scott Construction into the Ontario market. Reporting to the VP Operations, the Director of Construction is responsible for overall management of projects including liaising with the owner, coordinating, and leading partners, supervising members of the project team, and overseeing project implementation, financial and administrative oversight, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation of the project. This role will collaborate with the BC team to grow the Ontario Market. Business Development, Company branding in Ontario and managing a growing team are part of this unique and exciting role.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the regions multiple projects, including coaching the team as well as collaborating with senior leaders and co-workers in other disciplines and/or locations
- Organize and collaborate with team to execute on requested items to support growth of Ontario
- Lead, coach, and mentor team to achieve project deliverables, growth strategies, team development and execution of regional strategic plan
- Manage projects in collaboration with the team, such as attending meetings, project status communication with the client and ensuring projects are meeting milestones and objectives
- Lead all aspects of assigned projects including profitability, schedule adherence, customer expectations and subcontractors
- Oversight of all facets of projects in collaboration with the team, such as chairing meetings, project status communication, change orders, close-out, including archiving of documents, maintenance and warranty manuals, deficiencies, and warranty work.
- Support project preconstruction and provide feedback to Estimating on trades, budget, and schedule and assist with this function as required
- Support business development along with the BD Manager who reports into this role
- Contribute and review of proposals, marketing and business development programs and represent the company at external events to aid in Brand awareness and build strategic networks
- Provide oversight and update stakeholders as required on the goals, objectives, risks, assumptions, budgets, staffing requirements, work breakdown structure, milestones, and deliverables
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, public and internal team
- Maintain awareness of marketplace and trends to assist with developing effective bid strategies
- Represent Scott Construction at company-sponsored, industry and community events
- Support ESG committee initiatives and ensure team is educated on importance of the committee
- Support participation in the mental health, social committee, and other company programs

Qualifications

- 8+ years previous Construction Project Management experience working on a variety of project with a minimum spend of $60M
- University or college diploma in a relevant construction/engineering program
- Experience growing and leading a team
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and drive result orientated solutions
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to grow market share
- Integrated Project Delivery Contract and Mass Timber experience an asset
- Excellent computer skills including experience using MS Office, Project, Scheduling and Project Management software with Procore considered an asset
- Experience in all forms of contracts and delivery methods
- Sound knowledge in the review and negotiation of contracts for construction projects
- Strong technical, business, financial and legal acumen
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentations), including the ability to successfully translate technical information to non-technical individuals
- Knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity take off procedures sub-trade procurement, pricing and bid closing procedures
- Exemplary leadership and teambuilding capabilities
- Excellent relationship building skills and ability problem solve
