Program Overview – The WoodGreen Foundation, Central Services


The WoodGreen Foundation is the fundraising arm of WoodGreen Community Services. The Foundation is focused on raising awareness & funds to support WoodGreen’s role as a sector leader in providing sustainable solutions to some of our City’s most complex social needs.


What You Will Do


  • Manage relationships with 100+ individuals, corporate groups or foundations, and other prospective donors.
  • Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle: identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Support WoodGreen’s Corporate Engagement Strategy by honing strategic and tactical plans for partnership engagement designed to gain/enhance the interest and involvement of the corporate prospects.
  • Create meaningful employee volunteer experiences to engage employees and improve opportunities for WoodGreen clients.
  • Present publicly WoodGreen as an organization and on specific programs as appropriate. Lead group tours of WoodGreen facilities and programs, orient volunteers, and kitting groups to WoodGreen, facilitate corporate gifts-in-kind, and build awareness of WoodGreen’s high-quality, critical services, within corporate Canada.
  • Prepare effective proposals and grant submissions for corporations, corporate foundations, and occasionally individuals, that are compelling, accurate, and professionally written including case statements, tailored proposals, sponsorship packages, and progress reports.
  • Ensure all notes, calls, emails, gifts, meetings, and events are entered into Raiser’s Edge in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Build a culture of professional philanthropy by ensuring that team members and volunteers are properly briefed and prepared in advance of any contacts to support their cultivation or solicitation activities and provide support with their calls or face to face meetings.
  • Represent WoodGreen to external audiences, sharing information on programs and priorities.
  • Adhere to the highest ethical standards, demonstrate empathetic disposition, reflect an optimistic and positive attitude, and be sensitive to the needs of donors, staff, and clients.
  • Collaborate with Manager Development & Stewardship to ensure campaign and annual support programs and activities are integrated.

What You Bring to the Team


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • Certificate in Fundraising Management or CRRE Professional designation an asset.
  • 3+ years of successful experience in fundraising or partnership management.


What Will Set You Apart


  • Demonstrated fundraising experience including successfully closing gifts at the $50,000+ level.
  • Proficiency in standard office software and Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising software, information resources and publications, including fundraising databases and on-line services.
  • Experience in pipeline development, prospect review and qualification, proposal development, report writing, successful cultivation, and solicitation.
  • Excellent project management skills, including planning and critical evaluation of an initiative and designing metrics to monitor performance.
  • A team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to convey an authentic vision.
  • Ability to align corporate/donor interests with approved funding priorities/case for support to inspire giving and long-term engagement.
  • Highly organized, problem solve, and able to meet deadlines and work collaboratively in a multi-tasked environment.
  • Entrepreneurial, creative, strategic minded, and energetic.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills including effective networking, relationship building, and active listening.
  • A “self-starter” and goal driven with an ability to identify business development opportunities.
  • Understanding of sector trends in corporate social responsibility/community investment and sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated tact, diplomacy, and ability to liaise with and inspire senior management, staff, corporate contacts and donors.
  • Driver’s License and regular access to a vehicle considered an asset.
