Your Impact:


Jacobs is currently seeking a future Environmental Engineer, Geoscientist Scientist or Environmental Technologist to join our Kitchener, ON office. The successful candidate will spend their time both in the office (estimated 25%) and at field sites (estimated 75%). The work will involve characterization of soil, groundwater and surface water in support of environmental site assessments and remediations.

The responsibilities will generally include historical data research, data compilation, coordinating reporting and field investigation activities, field supervision, drilling, collecting samples (such as soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, and soil vapour), providing observations during fieldwork and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Report to intermediate or senior project managers or construction managers supporting them in proposal preparation and scope of work development.
  • Under minimal supervision execute field work such as:
    • Soil logging
    • Groundwater monitoring well installation
    • Groundwater sampling
    • Soil sampling
    • Collection of soil and groundwater samples for submission to a laboratory for analyses
  • Client and regulatory liaison, as appropriate.
  • Under minimal supervision, perform environmental contaminated sites assignments including compilation of field and analytical data, analysis of analytical data, report writing.
  • Provide oversight and supervision of subcontractors
  • Complete rigorous and clear field documentation and participate in planning, organizing, and reporting related to field tasks
  • Perform field observations and data collection assignments.
  • Knowledgeable of Federal and Provincial/Territorial Environmental Acts and Regulations in Canada preferred.
  • Acquire and Maintain appropriate safety training to conduct environmental contaminated sites work.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • Minimum 2-year college diploma in environmental sciences, engineering or geology.
  • 1-3 years of reporting and field experience related to contaminated sites work.
  • Qualifications of a Professional Engineer-in-Training or future P. Geo or CET
  • Experience completing Preliminary and/or Detailed Site Investigations, working with various drilling investigation methods, and completing fieldwork is an asset.
  • Experience planning and executing field work programs including pre-ordering equipment and materials required to complete the work.
  • Experience working on active construction/remediation project sites and interacting with contractors
  • Experience participating in field health and safety programs
  • Excellent computer skills including the use of excel and Microsoft suite of products
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must be willing to travel for occasion short -term assignments.
  • Valid Drivers License.
