Chain Lakes Gas Co-op is seeking a fulltime General Manager for its operations at Tees, Alberta

Background:

Chain Lakes Gas Co-op came into existence in 1974. The first construction started in July of 1975. By
1980 there were 600 burning members. The franchise area spans through Lacombe County, Ponoka
County and Camrose County with 2020 members at this time and covering 2850 square kilometers.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of activities and overseeing all aspects of the business. This includes staffing, safety, project planning and upkeep of our customers and current system.

Key Responsibilities:

Board of Directors

The General Manager will be responsible for preparing and presenting reports for the monthly board meeting to provide the Board with accurate information on current and upcoming operations.
Additionally, the Manager will work with the board to establish a yearly budget including upcoming maintenance and construction planning and distribute resources accordingly.

Staffing

Maintain sufficient and qualified staff to ensure operational safety and good customer service to provide stability, growth, and viability for the Co-op’s future. Over site of Contractors and maintaining a working relationship with Engineering Consultants and financial institutions. Train, monitor, coach, develop, and evaluate employees. Maintain professional and technical knowledge.
Provide full communication of information from the Board to the staff and from the staff to the
Board.

Rural Utilities Branch - Government of Alberta

Be familiar with the various Acts, Regulations and Technical Standards related to the Rural Gas
Program. This includes the Quality Management Plan (QMP) and the Safety and Loss Management
System (SLMS) and the Health and Safety Management System (HSMS). Maintain a good relationship with various sections regarding Grants, Construction Forecasts and Utility Right of Way.

Federation of Alberta Gas Co-ops Ltd.

Maintain a working relationship with the Federation in the area of benefits, pensions and training.

Operations

Interact as required and appropriately with customers to maintain the best possible service to our shareholders and customers.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Business or Technical diploma/degree (CET, BSc or B.Eng).
  • Valid Class 5 or better drivers license
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including 3-5 years of experience in standards development, stakeholder engagement, and/or project management.
  • Natural Gas Pipefitter or Utility Operator license is an asset.
  • Gas Plant or Pipeline experience is considered an asset.
  • Designation as a Project Management Professional, or equivalent designation/experience, would be an asset.
  • Experience and knowledge of the industry standards, government policy, and/or oil and gas delivery landscape.

Salary:

Salary will be based on qualifications and experience. Hiring salary range is $80,000-$115,000 a year
