The Position: As we are expanding our field of operations, we are in need of more motivated and hardworking individuals with leadership experience/potential. The Foreman is responsible for coordinating the work of individual Construction crews and subcontractors in their assigned area, to ensure that a quality pipeline is being constructed. They are to ensure that all supervisory personnel under their direction are familiar with the applicable Quality requirements of the Execution Plan and incorporate those requirements into their daily activities. The foreman will receive instructions and oversight from the Site Supervisor, and both will report to the Construction Manager. The Foreman is part of the operations team and is responsible for the safe, technical and economical execution of the company’s projects in the field.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure the HSE standards set by the client and the company will be followed and executed by all crew members under their supervision
Ensure the Project Quality Plan, and Inspection and Test Plans will be followed and executed accordingly
Receive and write reports of near misses, safety observations, incidents, or spills, and report them to the Site Safety and Site Supervisor
Work with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, and Site Supervisor to ensure the execution of the project within the final and approved schedule
Track and approve time of workers under their supervision, ensuring time doesn’t go over approved shift maximums without approval from the Site Supervisor
Lead tailgate meetings in collaboration with Site Safety, and participate in other operations and safety meetings as requested
Oversee with the signing out of required tools and assist in the tracking of consumables on-site
Assist with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
Assist with setting up and managing the separation plant and drilling fluids system
Support Site Supervisor in coordinating day-to-day activities with Prime Contractor’s site management
Load and unload trucks and equipment
Oversee the fueling of on-site equipment
Take part in safety inspections
Check the quality of work performed by the crew
Document the progress of work on the Daily Report, and provide updates to Management, through the Site Supervisor
Provide input to improve Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring that a quality pipeline is being constructed

Supervisory Responsibilities
The Foreman is responsible for the organization of his dedicated crew’s daily tasks, ensuring safe work, and that timelines and project goals are achieved.
They also may be required to coordinate the work of subcontractors and their crews and ensure their reporting and work schedule are maintained.

Qualifications
Education – An education in the tunneling or oil field industry, such as Driller, Heavy Duty Machinery operator, or other related field experience is required
Experience – Minimum 2 years of specialized experience in tunneling, as well as at least 2 years experience in previous leadership positions
Technical – knowledge and experience with Micro-tunneling Machines and/or Direct Pipe technology

Key Technical Skills and Knowledge
Knowledge and experience in tunneling
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format.
General mechanical and electrical skills and knowledge
Demonstrated experience in connecting the machine, and all electrical and slurry lines
Troubleshooting experience on tunneling projects
Understanding of tunneling fluid management (slurry suspensions/mud plants)
Basic computer skills, and competence in Microsoft Office and Mac programs
Basic knowledge in provincial/federal OH&S and occupational code/standards, as applicable to the job

Physical Demand
While performing the duties of this job, requirements include prolonged standing, walking, and/or sitting.
Computer work is also required which will involve a visual focus on screens and documents.
Requirements include the use of hands to handle/feel objects, tools, or controls.
Required to climb stairs and/or ladders, balance, stoop or kneel and/or walk on uneven ground.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Ability to hear equipment alarms, voices, radio transmissions, and other noises consistent with construction sites.
Ability to work in all weather conditions, inside and outside.
Confined space work is required in this position.
