Contract /Full time (35 hours per week)

Contract Start date: IMMEDIATE ; Contract End date: March 31, 2024

(with possibility of contract renewal)

Reports to: Senior Manager, Newcomers’ Centre

ACSA is a nonprofit, multi service agency addressing needs and empowering children, youth, newcomers, homeless, and otherwise underserved communities. Our core programs include housing and outreach programs, food security programs, newcomer services, youth outreach and therapy programs, child and family programs, early years’ programs, computer access programs, and community engagement.

Summary of Job Functions

ACSA's Newcomer and Settlement Department is seeking to hire a highly skilled TEQ-LIP OFFICER with a proven track record of building partnerships, group facilitation, strategic planning, and engaging with stakeholders to develop innovative solutions that support immigrant-serving organizations in providing resources for newcomers. The ideal candidate must demonstrate experience in project coordination, partnership development, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, group facilitation, and possess strong communication and report writing skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Work closely with the LIP team to ensure that project objectives are accomplished;

· Develop positive and productive relationships with key stakeholders, such as residents, neighborhood leaders, service providers, and community partners, to advance project goals and enhance community engagement;

· Assist with the development and implementation of Scarborough Settlement Strategy, work plan, and related activities, with a focus on employment and economic development;

· Facilitate Action Groups to ensure that project objectives are met, including the development of work plans and the implementation of activities;

· Take the lead in publishing the e-blast as a communication tool for the Access to Information Action Group, ensuring that relevant and timely information is communicated to stakeholders;

· Provide support in organizing TEQ LIP events and workshops, with a focus on engaging community members and building partnerships;

· Assist with the development and implementation of a communication strategy to ensure project activities and related information is clearly communicated among partners and to the community;

· Contribute to the development and maintenance of project website, newsletter, and other communication materials, ensuring that they are engaging and effectively communicate project goals and activities;

· Identify possible areas of resources and action, monitor project progress;

· Assist with project evaluation and provide recommendations for improvement based on data and stakeholder feedback;

· Assist the LIP Manager to ensure that project activities are delivered in accordance with the project policies and guidelines;

· Effectively work as part of a Team that fosters collaborative work environment;

· Prepare and submit monthly statistics and progress reports that accurately reflect project activities, progress, and outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· A Social Work degree or equivalent training in a related Human Services field is required;

· Minimum 2-3 years of front-line community work experience with a focus on serving newcomer populations is essential;

· Demonstrated ability and experience in building and maintaining service partnerships with service providers, both in the settlement sector and non-settlement community agencies, is required;

· A high degree of sensitivity and awareness to culturally, racially, economically, and socially diverse communities, especially issues affecting newcomers, is necessary;

· Extensive knowledge of community issues, resources, and services in Scarborough;

· Deep understanding of issues and policies affecting immigrant and refugee communities;

· Excellent leadership, communication, planning, interpersonal, facilitation, and time management;

· Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team;

· Proficiency in MS Office and experience with online meeting tools is essential;

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required;

· Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills with participants, agencies, and the public;

· Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends;

· Fluency in a second language is a strong asset;

· Ability to work in-person;

· Ability to extensively travel within Toronto to attend meetings and events;

· Possession of a valid Ontario Driver’s License, G2 or G, and use of a car is mandatory;
