ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSE
Environmental Response Program Officers carry out environmental response duties in the marine environment as part of the Canadian Coast Guard’s federal mandate. This includes environmental emergency management activities and response activities in the field, preparedness and readiness activities, multipartner’s projects management and carrying out administrative duties.

SEARCH AND RESCUE
Search and rescue Program carry out emergency Search and Rescue training, liaison, exercising and support to response duties in the marine environment as part of the Canadian Coast Guard’s federal mandate. This primarily includes maintaining equipment, vessels and vehicles and carrying out administrative duties at the headquarters area.

VESSELS OF CONCERN
The Vessel of Concern Program Officers are involved in the management of a fleet of vehicles, boats and deployment equipment to respond to marine casualties and wrecks.

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT
Incident Management Program Officers as a role in regional readiness to respond to incidents. That includes contributing to the advancement of knowledge and understanding of incident command system (ICS) by supporting the delivery of ICS training (tracking of trainees), exercises, workshops, working groups, etc. Incident Management Program Officers will also support the development of incident management tools, such as contributing to the development of contingency plans.

AIDS TO NAVIGATION
Aids to Navigation programe officers are responsible for reviewing and analyzing the performance of various marine aids to navigation beneficial to a safe, accessible and effective vessel transit in Canadian waters for the mariners. They conduct comprehensive studies to assess the risks to navigation and their potential impact on mariner’s safety in order to recommend appropriate mitigation measures in accordance with national and international guidelines and standards. They are also called to assist in the coordination of seasonal buoy tending programs and the maintenance of fixed and floating aids within established levels of service.
