TITLE: Landscape Support

POSITION STATUS: Full-Time Temporary (8 weeks- Canada Summer Job) (Non-Union)

SCHEDULE: 35 hours per week (flexibility required as needed)

REPORTS TO: Program Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence for the Deaf (BRCCED) is a provincial leader in the Deaf community. Our mission is to provide care and opportunities in a communication-rich environment that enhances the quality of life of those we serve. We are a highly motivated, collaborative team on a mission to improve the quality of life for those we serve. We take a person centered approach that aims to support and make a positive difference in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.

This position supports with garden and landscape related caretaking activities.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Collaborate efforts with other BRCCED staff who also support with Garden/Landscape
  • Support with teaching strategies and hands on support for individuals who have assigned activities in the Garden/Landscape
  • Develop lesson plans related to skill building of Garden/Landscape and related life skills
  • Support with facilitating workshop related activities for small groups
  • Support with related admin tasks and/or support staff with related seasonal events and initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and experience working within the deaf community and fluency in ASL OR strong commitment to engage in professional development to build skill and knowledge in ASL, Deaf culture and supporting Deaf or hard of hearing individuals and their community
  • Professional demeanor and attire
  • Motivated to learn new skills
  • Hard working and energetic
  • Reliable and courteous
  • Ability to work within a team
  • French language/LSQ an asset
Canada Summer Jobs Requirements

  • Must be within 15 to 30 years of age (as per Canada Summer Jobs requirements)
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada with a valid Social Insurance Number
  • Must be able to commit to full 8 weeks at 35 hours per week
