Maintenance Assistant

Wage:
$19.00 per hour

Monday – Friday, Full-time: 35 hours per week

About the Program:

The YMCA is the largest not-for-profit provider of child care in Canada and the YMCA of Northern BC is the largest provider in the north, serving: Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Fort St. James, Fort St. John, Prince George, Pouce Coupe, Tumbler Ridge and Vanderhoof. YMCA Child Care is a home away from home.

Responsibilities of this role:

  • To support the Maintenance Manager(s) with general maintenance and grounds keeping duties, including painting, cleaning, furniture repairs, and servicing equipment
  • Running grounds equipment (such as lawn mowers) and using a variety of tools
  • Ability to take direction, prioritize tasks and work independently
  • Prioritizes safety and ensures quality in their work
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors
  • Some travel (day trips) may be required

Qualifications:

  • Experience related to building maintenance, grounds keeping, and maintaining equipment and furniture
  • Some mechanical knowledge and experience with tools required
  • Physical ability to perform the duties required
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle
  • Three satisfactory professional references
  • Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector search

As this position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Grant, preference will be given to applicants who meet the CSJ Grant criteria.

Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 3 months
