Maintenance Supervisor

Position Description:

Accountable for supervising the maintenance of u/g and surface fixed equipment including but not limited to:

  • Hoists
  • Conveyances
  • Shaft
  • Crushers
  • Rockbreakers
  • Conveyors
  • Pumping systems/stations
  • Compressors
  • Fuel Bays
  • O/H Cranes
  • Fire Systems
  • Building maintenance
  • HVAC systems
  • Welding activities

Responsibilities:

  • Enforce compliance to all applicable environmental, health and safety Acts, policies and
  • procedures and ensure that all workers work in the manner and with the protective devices,
  • measures and procedures required.
  • Make certain adequate accident prevention practices are maintained by reviewing and recommending improvements and procedures.
  • Ensure all hazards are reported and investigated in accordance with relevant procedures and appropriate remedial actions implemented in a timely manner.
  • Provide employees with a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring proper training, following, and understanding of the operating procedures, PPE, operation of equipment and effective communication.
  • Complete all accident investigation reports, inspections, 5-point audits, Job observations, tours, 5-point safety cards and forward them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Compliance to all monthly routine checks (fire extinguisher, shop inspections)
  • Hold daily cell safety meetings to communicate safety instruction, information and gather concerns to be addressed. Document these meetings and concerns and forward to the safety department
  • Work with the u/g supervisors on daily, weekly, and monthly production plans ensuring availability of manpower, equipment, tools, service, and resources.
  • Identify and organize the resources required for these plans, equipment, personnel, and services to achieve the established production targets. Organize these schedules to maximize the utilization rate for each personnel and equipment.
  • Ensure adequate material available to maximize productivity
  • Understand and follow the plan (maintenance and production)
  • Administer all maintenance plans to support desired operating performance
  • Schedule daily activities at line up to ensure efficient utilization of personnel, equipment, material, and resources
  • Perform physical inspections to determine if work meets company standards in regard to quality, production and safety.
  • Recommend measures or changes to improve production methods, equipment performance and use of equipment and personnel to increase efficiency of department and entire mine.
  • Ensure all work completed supports activities of the subsequent shifts; communicate these activities during shift change and through the shift log.
  • Enforce compliance consistently and fairly all applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Anticipate and implement solution to problems that may occur in the operations through trouble shooting and problem solving.
  • Ensure relevant discipline is applied promptly
  • Promote and encourage supervision in establishing the continuous improvement culture.
  • Formulate and follow the Cell training plan to ensure all necessary training is complete.
  • Review the need for necessary position postings and post when required.
  • Maintain proper working relations between mine department and all other departments including contractor relationships.
  • Communicate with General Foremen, Supervisors, Departments, and other employees to review direction, resolve problems, recommend priorities and corrective measures to improve operations and conditions of entire mine.
  • Attend morning planning meetings with Superintendent and other management personnel for direction and communication
  • Receive and give accurate, timely feedback to Supervisor, employees, and other cells

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years Trade related experience, Trades Ticket preferred
  • Previous Supervising experience preferred.
