Our current group of three Hematologists provides specialized care to patients with benign and malignant hematologic disorders in Oakville and surrounding areas.

We are seeking one candidate to support our community Hematology practice. The position requires a compassionate and reliable individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with patients and health care providers. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate professionalism, good judgment and independence while completing daily administrative activities.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Greeting patients with enthusiasm and a positive attitude
  • Checking in/out patients including validating OHIP health cards
  • Scheduling, coordinating and confirming patient appointments, tests, referrals and procedures
  • Updating and maintaining electronic medical records (EMR) with all test results, clinical notes, demographics etc.
  • Reviewing and charting telephone, facsimile, mail and email messages
  • Triaging and responding to all telephone enquiries and messages from patients or families
  • Correction of dictations and distribution of dictated clinical notes to referring physicians
  • Preparation, submission, and reconciliation of OHIP billing information
  • Management of billing for procedures and patients not covered by OHIP
  • Participating in other miscellaneous administrative duties as assigned
  • Ordering clinic supplies
  • Working collaboratively with other administrative support staff

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Completion of a College-accredited medical secretary or medical office administration program AND/OR equivalent work experience in medical office administration
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an administrative assistant preferably within a healthcare/ clinic environment
  • Demonstrates exemplary work performance and attendance record
  • Committed to long term employment
  • Personable with excellent communication skills
  • Positive work ethic and superior professionalism with ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent time management, organizational and self-planning skills
  • Proficient in English, additional languages are a bonus
  • Proficient with medical terminology
  • Proficient in computer applications including Windows OS, Microsoft Office, e-mail and Internet
  • Experience using Accuro EMR is an asset
  • OHIP billing and submission experience
