STATUS: Full Time

SALARY: $35.12 - $48.68


POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This position provides Occupational Therapy (OT) services to a variety of orthopaedic, cardiopulmonary, neurological and geriatric patients within inpatient acute medical units, surgical inpatient unit, integrated stroke unit, rehab and the continuing care setting.


The Occupational Therapist develops and implements a plan of intervention for inpatients in collaboration with the health care team. Specifically, the Occupational Therapist will provide expert occupational therapy assessment and treatment recommendations for patients in the clinical units.


HOURS:

This position must be available to work days, all shifts on weekends and/or statutory holidays. In addition, this position must be flexible to occasional changes in hours when required to meet the operational needs of the department and meet the non-availability requirements of the Collective Agreement as well as accept short notice relief calls.


SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Baccalaureate or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy;
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Demonstrated commitment to and involvement with own profession by being a member of either the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapy and/or Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists is preferred.
  • Current CPR certification
  • Minimum of five (5) years full time experience in hospital setting as an OT preferred
  • Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team, as well as independently.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and critical thinking skills with an emphasis on conflict resolution.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills as it relates to patient care.
  • Proven flexibility in adapting to varying caseload needs and a high level of initiative.
  • Keen interest goal orientated and patient-centered approach to patient care.
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice
  • Knowledge of computer systems (ie. workload management, Cerner, Outlook)
  • Excellent attendance record in accordance with STEGH’s Attendance at Work Program
  • Demonstrated acceptable performance record in alignment with STEGH's Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Conduct
  • Experience educating, coaching and mentoring OT students and novice OT staff preferred

Successful candidates must provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status prior to your first day of work.
