ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Based at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Process Plant Electrical Planner to join our Process Plant Maintenance team reporting to the Process Plant Planning General Supervisor.

Detour Lake is the second largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential. The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt. The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999. The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.

The Process Plant Electrical Planner will be responsible for providing planning and support services to the Process Plant Electrical Maintenance team to ensure that all plant activities at the Detour Lake Mine are structured in a safe, cost effective manner and with minimal disruption to processing operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities will include:

• 
  Produce detailed plans and schedules for weekly maintenance tasks and update as a result of monitoring performance to the plan;
• Maintain and utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP) to its full potential and coach others to do the same;
• Create work packages for maintenance work; including identification/ordering of parts, determining required standards of work, determining required labour hours, skills etc;
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvements to improve safety, reduce costs and increase reliability;
• Assist in the creation of maintenance operating cost forecasts, budgets and monthly maintenance reports;
• Work closely with the operations team and the maintenance supervisors to produce a weekly schedule;
• Analyze maintenance procedures and make recommendations to optimize effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS

Our ideal candidate has:

• 
  Electrical trade qualification in a Maintenance or Engineering field;
• Minimum four years’ direct experience in a Maintenance/Process department;
• Knowledge of maintenance planning practices and an understanding of the maintenance scheduling process;
• A knowledge of electrical code maintenance requirements in an industrial environment;
• Expertise in SAP and Prometheus is an asset;
• Good work ethic and strong attitude towards safety.
