Job Summary

Bring your strong administrative experience and superior organizational skills to this program assistance position

The Ministry of Children and Family Development works together with Indigenous Child and Family Services Agencies (ICFS Agencies), Indigenous service partners, approximately 5400 contracted community service agencies and foster caregiver’s homes, cross government, and social sector partners to deliver inclusive, culturally respectful, responsive, and accessible services that support the well-being of children, youth and families. The Aboriginal Services Branch is responsible for supporting child welfare practice and operations in ICFS Agencies as well as leading the development and guiding practice and policy for services delivered by the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) and the ICFS Agencies as it relates to Indigenous child welfare.

The Program Assistant supports Aboriginal Services Branch staff by providing a variety of clerical services. This position also works as an administrative team member for other teams reporting to the Provincial Director of Child Welfare.

Job Requirements:

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • Two (2) or more years’ secretarial/administrative experience working in an office and team setting.
  • Two (2) or more years’ experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other standard computer applications).
  • Experience booking meetings, making travel arrangements, and preparing meeting materials.
  • Experience organizing workload, assessing priorities, multi-tasking, and working with limited supervision.
  • Experience dealing with sensitive and confidential issues by phone and/or email.


Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:

  • CLIFF and eApprovals experience.
  • Experience maintaining a records management system.
  • A certificate in office administration or related discipline.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
