Exan Software (Exan) has over 20 years of experience developing and supporting software in dental markets in Canada and throughout the world. As part of Henry Schein One, Exan’s products support the Canadian Dental Practice Management and Global Academic-Dental markets. Our on-premise products are well established with strong customer loyalty while our cloud product customer base is growing every year.

To continue building on our success and achieve those goals, we are looking for a Quality Engineer I who is passionate about continuous learning and adopts a collaborative approach to problem solving to add to our QA team. This role will report to the Software Engineering Manager.

The primary responsibility of this role is to accelerate our ongoing efforts to move more of our testing to automation and support our software development process for the axiUm product line. You will be engaged throughout all phases of the software development life cycle and use your drive for technology and quality to help us exceed customer expectations. You have at least 1 year or more experience as a QA Automation Engineer or Software Engineer in Test and have strong background with test automation like Selenium. You will also apply black box, grey box and white box testing techniques in the daily QA tasks.

Our Interview Process

  • Role fit interview with Software Engineering Manager (hiring manager)
  • Technical team interview with other Software and Quality Engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate functional requirements and proactively communicate with Product Manager and Developers to determine and implement the appropriate testing strategy.
  • Perform end-to-end testing of software products including functional, system, integration, security, and performance at both the service and UI levels.
  • Develop, maintain and execute automation scripts for the applications cross different platforms
  • Create and maintain test automation scripts for Restful APIs .
  • Document test results, log and track defects and participate in defect review process to identify priorities and remediation strategies.
  • Participate in identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities in processes, standards, and procedures in test automation and functional testing.
  • Develop, maintain and utilize automation framework that delivers frequent execution of test cases.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of experience as a QA Engineer or QA Analyst
  • Experience in scripting for automation – using Javascript
  • Experience in testing APIs and services
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of database and SQL queries for data validation
  • Understanding of QA methodologies and Agile processes
  • Experience with Jenkins, TeamCity or Gitlab and CI/CD pipeline
  • Experience in test delivery in an Agile model
  • A strong desire to contribute to the release and success of leading-edge software products
  • Excellent attention to details
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • This is a hybrid (#LI-HYBRID) role, with two days in office, to facilitate brainstorming and team building
    • Our office is located across from Guildford Mall, in Surrey, BC

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with facilitating scrum team activities is a plus
  • Performance testing experience
  • Dental or Healthcare industry knowledge/background is an asset but not required
