Part-Time Sales Associate

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Once Upon A Child Windsor offers customers a fun and convenient way to buy and sell gently used kids' stuff, which makes saving money on children's clothes, toys, baby furniture and equipment a reality every day. We focus on quality, safety, and value – the same things you feel important for your own families.

Once Upon A Child Windsor is looking for outgoing and motivated individuals who love kids and enjoy working in a fun, team oriented environment. The right candidate will be available to work days, evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities include providing a high level of customer service by ensuring customers are assisted in an enthusiastic, timely, and knowledgeable manner. Additional responsibilities include assisting store management in daily store operations buying, selling, tagging, pricing, and stocking of used merchandise, processing sales and returns, answering phones, communicating the buy process to our customers, and any other tasks associated with being a sales associate. This is an entry-level position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet customers immediately, determine their needs and handle all transactions in a professional and enthusiastic manner
  • Exhibit appropriate selling procedures and effectively communicate to all customers our Buy Policy as well as our inventory needs
  • Become familiar with products, brands, and prices and make recommendations of products, including their features and benefits, to suit customers’ needs
  • Learn tagging and hanging procedures and restock store following merchandising plan. Maintain store displays and follow store housekeeping and maintenance standards and procedures
  • Develop proficiency in operating computerized Point of Sale (POS) system for all sales transactions, etc.
  • Achieve store sales goals by applying sound customer service and sales protocol
  • Based on performance, become certified in the buying process

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Great customer service and communication skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to handle customers with sensitivity
  • Ability to work at a fast pace with accuracy
  • Must have flexibility with work schedules; holidays and weekends are a must
  • Must be able to arrive a minimum of 10 minutes before your scheduled shift
  • Must be able to effectively communicate the buy process to our customers

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, up to 8 hours a day.
  • Ability to correctly lift and carry 40 pound storage bins sometimes up and down a ladder
  • Bending, rotating, and reaching customary to a retail environment; including receiving, pricing, and stocking/back stocking merchandise
  • Exposure to typical retail environment conditions and noise levels
