Health Information Management (HIM) provides services for Fraser Health (FH), Providence Health Care (PHC), the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) and Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). HIM is a leader in the collection, storage, and use of patient information within British Columbia. Providence Health Care is the lead organization for HIM, and employs over 1,350 HIM staff across Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, the Sea-to-Sky Corridor, the Sunshine Coast and the Regional Cancer Centres (Victoria, Kelowna, Prince George, Abbotsford, Surrey, Vancouver).

Summary

Reporting to the Leader, Client Registration and Information Services, the User Readiness Specialist is responsible for organizing and administering a comprehensive range of formalized computer application classes for Providence Health Care full-time, part-time, casual, non contract and medical staff. Works as part of an expert team that provides support for Client Identity Management, Clients Registration and Scheduling applications and functions across all programs and sites, and is responsible for measuring training and orientation results to ensure that established outcomes are met and making changes to training program as required.

Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of policy and standards for client identity management and client registration data collection.
  • Working knowledge of information security and confidentiality guidelines and policies such as the Freedom of Information Protection and Privacy Act.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments.
  • Ability to manage own work activities to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues, and recognize when to escalate.
  • Ability to write training materials and edit training materials written by others. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse user community.
  • Knowledge of staff hiring procedures.
  • Strong exposure to a variety of corporate-level client registration and scheduling healthcare applications, as a supervisor and/or trainer. Basic understanding of businesses process re-engineering.

Education

Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Business Administration/Management/Information Technology and/or Information Management with specialized courses in Training, plus two (2) to three (3) years of experience in software implementation project management, including documentation, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
