Job Description
The Vice-President, Real Estate Secured Lending is accountable for the integration, development and management of all real estate financing and secured lending products across CIBC. This role leads the strategy and long term transformation agenda to drive growth and operational efficiencies. In addition to overseeing the management of product, pricing, marketing and related channels strategy, the Vice-President plays a central role in engaging internal and external partners to deliver best in class secured lending products to our clients with increasing emphasis on innovation and digitization.

What You’ll be Doing

Strategy and Partnerships
  • Guide the relationship with key vendors and key partners to ensure mutual benefit and delivery against target SLAs.
  • Build a longer term strategic transformation agenda to drive future growth and operational efficiencies. Build business cases and secure partner alignment and prioritization with internal stakeholders.
  • Build and manage the appropriate measurement infrastructure to evaluate and support progress against the strategic plan.
  • Work closely with Corporate Strategy and Business Development to identify and evaluate innovative partnership opportunities to accelerate growth.
  • Provide insight and competitive intelligence in the marketplace and ensure that CIBC is always on the leading edge of innovation, market knowledge, and industry expertise.
  • Works closely with the Regulatory Programs leader to partner on all matters related to business controls, policy, and regulatory requirements.
Product and Pricing Management
  • Oversee product management strategies and activities to achieve short and long term financial and strategic objectives, including balances, revenue, growth, and loss rates.
  • Develop new product strategies as appropriate and continuously identify new opportunities for innovation and disruption.
  • Develop Product strategies to increase digital penetration in mortgage acquisition, servicing, and retention.
  • Develop strategies to increase retention and renewal rates across all channels and reduce both mid-term and end-of-term attrition.
  • Develop strategic framework to guide pricing decisions and oversee an efficient and effective pricing strategy to ensure competitiveness and responsiveness in the market.
  • Own the relationship with internal partners such as credit adjudication, back-office fulfillment, risk, and treasury, and develop strategies to strengthen these partnerships.
  • Develop, in partnership with the Marketing organization, an annual marketing campaign to drive growth and differentiate CIBC in the market.
  • Be a lead participant in review of Risk Management activities such as loan loss modeling and forecasting, scorecard development and application.
  • Manage all portfolio reporting functions and develop an appropriate review cadence with senior executives and stakeholders.
  • Partner with analytics to enhance modelling capabilities and drive deeper insights from data that enable growth opportunities.
End-to-End Journey Optimization and Continuous Improvement
  • Own the end-to-end client journeys associated with all secured lending products.
  • Develop strategies to improve SLAs for key client journey associated with the mortgage product including new mortgages, renewals, and lifecycle management strategies.
  • Develop a deep understanding of processes, systems, technology and infrastructure used in mortgage products and work closely with partners to develop strategies for improvement.
Channel Engagement
  • Engage with channel partners in Banking Centres, Contact Centres, Mortgage Advisors, and Digital, to understand pain points and develop solutions to support.
  • Support channel partners in understanding their results and developing strategies to improve.
  • Conduct regular test and learn program to assess the relative effectiveness of channels and direct volumes and activities appropriately.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience in financial services at the senior management level; 8-10 years of deep experience in the residential mortgage industry.
  • Deep knowledge of pricing and P&L management in this space.
  • Strong analytic and insight generation capabilities to inform strategies and communicate results.
  • Innovative thinking to help accelerate growth strategies in the secured lending space (e.g., segmentation, partnerships, alternative pricing strategies and models, channel innovation, etc.).
  • Marketing and business/product development orientation.
  • Strong leadership skills, experience leading product management professionals.
  • Effective communication and relationship building skills.
  • Strong ability to work effectively in a constantly changing and highly matrixed environment.
