Job Summary

The role of Warehouse Supervisor is to support the Warehouse Manager with maintaining and managing all operations in the warehouse. This individual is responsible for the efficient flow of goods in and out of the warehouse(s), in a manner which maximizes both company efficiencies and customer satisfaction. This individual will ensure that all warehouse service objectives are met while contributing to a safe, positive and collaborative working environment for all. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to providing continual constructive feedback to management while maintaining affirmative inter-group relationships required for operations to be successful.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Completion of post-secondary in warehousing, transportation, supply chain management, inventory control and/or materials management would be considered an asset
  • Must possess excellent problem-solving skills
  • Must have Lean/Continuous Improvement experience including 5S
  • Must possess exceptional conflict resolution skills, diplomacy and tact
  • Must demonstrate critical thinking abilities on a continuous basis
  • Advanced knowledge of reviewing, analyzing, implementing and improving KPI’s
  • Must be highly disciplined in time management
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse documentation
  • Must possess strong negotiating skills and a demonstrated ability to manage people in a team environment
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate strong leadership skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office / Windows / Outlook / Warehouse Mgmt. Technology
  • Must possess and display a high level of self-motivation
  • Must be a high-energy, motivated leader that takes great initiative every day
  • MHE certified
  • Must be able to safely operate Order Picker and Walkie

Working Conditions

  • 40 hours per week; occasional overtime required to meet departmental needs
  • Continuous walking, bending, pushing, pulling
  • Shift time may be adjusted in order to meet deadlines
  • Must be capable of working in both an office and warehouse environment
  • Use of ladder

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain all operations of the Warehouse
  • Manage all aspects of the Inbound and Outbound Departments
  • Manage work flow of all Inbound Operations from receiving to put away
  • Responsible for activities in picking, checking, processing, replenishment shipping, and pickup operations
  • Responsible for processing, invoicing and shipping all orders placed before 5:00PM to meet customer deadline expectation
  • Review specific GL expense account reports to meet budget restraints
  • Lead and manage team of lead hands, warehouse associates in a fast-paced environment to achieve required objectives
  • Ensure that departmental targets are set and consistently met (e.g. receiving turnaround, order processing turnaround and accuracy, cycle count program)
  • Responsible for cross-training of staff to ensure continued efficient operation of department
  • Responsible for training current and incoming staff on all warehouse functions including on the Order Picker machine
  • Successfully manage process improvement projects and possess the ability to react to change productively and proactively
  • Ensure that warehouse is safe, secure, and complies with OHS regulations & enforce safety rules and regulations
  • Set and maintain departmental targets for efficiency and accuracy to ensure that the flow of goods through the facility is done in an optimum manner
  • Ensure effective management of inventory in warehouse
  • Responsible for conducting all performance appraisals for direct reports in a timely manner
  • Provide effective coaching and feedback on a regular basis to direct reports
  • Responsible for developing, training and mentoring associates on a regular basis to ensure KPI’s are continuously being met
  • Lead monthly individual KPI meetings to ensure timely completion
  • Enforce and adhere to SanMar Canada’s operational KPIs
  • Responsible for accessing/amending Time Clock Plus daily to ensure employee hours are correct prior to payroll processing
  • Responsible for the implementation and handling of employee job code changes
  • Prepare disciplinary documentation for employees that are underperforming or display problematic behaviour
  • Responsible for carrying out employee disciplinary action as per the Progressive Discipline Policy
  • Actively assists the JHSC with investigations and resolving any past, ongoing and new findings
  • Complete and submit employee incident reports to Warehouse Manager and Human Resources right away
  • Maintain valid first aid certification
  • Research, discuss and implement process improvements
  • Increase efficiency and productivity to achieve budget targets and operational KPI’s/metrics
  • Review and analyze individual and group performance
  • In accordance with our Management Payroll Reporting Policy & SOP, the Warehouse Supervisor must:
  • Be aware of the payroll cutoff and processing dates
  • Review timesheets and correct any inaccuracies prior to submitting to Warehouse Manager
  • Report any payroll discrepancies to the Payroll Department immediately in writing
  • Provide training or retraining to employees on proper use of the Time Clock Plus (TCP) system
  • Adhere to current and future company policies and standards to ensure a safe and agreeable working environment
  • Responsible for properly communicating and training department staff of current and future company policies and standards to ensure a safe and agreeable working environment
  • Responsible for ensuring all policies are adhered to and must communicate any breach of policy to Human Resources or Senior Management
