RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the Assistant Manager of HR will act as team lead, ensuring effectiveness of the day to day functions of the HR department. Responsible for planning, coordinating and optimizing HRIS & HR systems related activities, including auditing all payroll changes in the HRIS system.

Coordinate the implement HR policies, processes and programs that support the culture, values and business strategy of the organization. Provide HR solutions, support, process knowledge and advice to management and employees. Support integration activities, change management and HR projects as directed by the HR Manager. Responsible for Disability & Attendance Management Programs for all employee groups under the direction of the HR Manager.

OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE:

Ensures compliance with the Board’s Collective Agreements/Policies by all employee groups;

Advise, direct and support all departments within the Board on all areas of HR including processes, process changes and reporting requirements;

Lead HRIS administrator: configuring the HRIS system, maintaining security parameters, support/train and troubleshoot the system and processes, developing and testing new initiatives;

Responsible for sign-off on daily changes to the HRIS system, ensuring data integrity and accuracy;

Act as project lead on HR initiatives, technology implementations/upgrades and process improvement activities;

Works with all key stakeholders in all aspects of attendance and disability management including graduated return to work programs and accommodations;

Supervise and ensure the effective execution of the recruitment process,

Gather and analyze HR data and provide input to leadership to assist in the development and implementation of HR strategies;

Complete other HR administrative duties as required;

QUALIFICATIONS:

This position demands that the successful candidate have:

Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management;

Minimum 4-6 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, preferably in a unionized environment;

CHRP designation;

Highly effective interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build positive relationships at all levels of the organization including union representatives and leadership;

Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to propose integrated solutions to complex issues.

Excellent planning and organizational skills plus the ability to manage multiple priorities;

Effective leadership skills;

Proven ability to successfully manage projects and timelines with little supervision;

Advanced skills with HR Systems and MS Office;

  • A valid driving license, in good standing with the Ministry of Transportation, and access to a motor vehicle for regular travel within the Board’s jurisdiction is essential;
