Opportunity

The Health Service Driver (HSD) will be the primary driver for the Transport Service providing transportation to individuals seeking health services. Most health services that the program will focus on are Rapid Access to Addiction Care Clinics (RAAC), Opiate Agonist Treatment (OAT), and Injectable Opiate Agonist Treatment clinics (IOAT), with a secondary focus on transporting individuals to other forms of health treatments. The Transport program will provide services to the full Fraser Health Region.

Responsibilities

Using a PCRS agency vehicle (minivan) the HSD will work alongside a team of people with lived or living experience (PEERS) where they will have one PEER join them on each transport service. The HSD will work with RAAC and OAT clinics in the Fraser Region to coordinate regular transportation services as well as provide new daily services as time allows. The Transport vehicle will start daily operations from Chilliwack then create a transportation plan for the region through set pick-ups and drop-offs as well as new requests each day.

This position will have a cultural understanding and trauma informed approach that involves our Indigenous and fellow neighbors. In addition, they will follow PCRS policies, service targets and mandates while assuring the program runs efficiently. Duties within the HSD position will involve having a trauma informed approach in responding and respecting all participants accessing the service and will work to accommodate disabilities or other needs as required. The HSD will also respect the confidentiality of those accessing the service while keeping professional personal boundaries. This position will primarily work Monday – Friday with some variation in hours.

Qualifications

Grade 12 minimum. Valid Driver’s License and ability to provide drivers abstract.

Certification in Substance use and Mental health or diploma in social services considered an asset.

Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector.

Proof of being fully Vaccinated for Covid 19

Demonstrated experience in working with those facing health concerns, substance use and mental health.

Able to spend significant hours driving others in a safe and responsible manner.

Computer skills and administrative capability.

Occupational First Aid – Level 1.

Additional Assets

  • Mental health first aid certification.
  • De-Escalation/Non-Violent Intervention training.
