Job description

Permanent, part-time, one Friday/month from 8:30pm to 4:30pm with a possibility of more hours in the future, as clinic is in expansion. May start immediately. Salary based on experience.

RESPONSABILLITIES

• Document dental history and/or chief complaints
• Triage emergencies and consults as needed
• Chart presence of any abnormalities of the soft or hard tissue
• Follow through with oral hygiene procedures in accordance with treatment plans prescribed by the attending Dentist
• Procedures may include prophylaxis, periodontal scaling, root planing, debridement, and application of fluoride treatments
• Remove stains and tartar from the physical portion of the teeth by means of manual scaling and ultrasonic instrumentation
• Examine and chart tooth structures for existing fillings and obvious decay as well as the presence and absence of teeth
• Examine, probe and chart the gum tissue for pocket depth and gum disease.
• Take dental x-rays
• Document lab procedures and ensures follow up on results
• Ensure that during recall exams the dentist has reviewed patients’ charts, treatment record, consents, and health history and signs all documents relevant to treatment
• Assist with emergency measures for sudden adverse developments during treatment of patients
• Manage patients’ medical alerts and need for pre-medicine prior to scheduled appointments
• Manage infection control - disinfect and sterilize instruments, equipment & rooms
• Report pertinent observations and patient reactions to the attending Dentist.
• Take impressions for study models
• Help as needed with lab related tasks such as pouring models and/or fabricating bleaching trays.
• Scheduling and confirming appointments as needed
• Make care calls to patients as directed

REQUIRED SKILLS

• DENTAL HYGIENIST LICENCE required
• English, French - Bilingual (written and verbal communication skills in both English and French)
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills

• Exercises confidentiality when dealing with patients
• Professional attitude and appearance
• Friendly and courteous customer service attitude
• Punctual, reliable and accurate
• Proactive and team player
