Overview:

Banbury Crossroads is looking for ESL instructors to provide varying levels of English language instruction to our students. We are compiling a roster of selected candidates that would be willing to instruct students for these courses. We will base the instruction of our courses on third-party materials unless an alternative is proposed for consideration by the instructor. In-person (on campus), and online (remote) courses may be available for selection by instructors, but all ESL instructors MUST be able to teach in-person. Online sessions will be conducted through Microsoft Teams or Zoom. Exact course dates and times are TBD, but courses will be repeated quarterly. Previous hires will be given priority in the selection or repeat instruction for future courses. While we are seeking B.Ed. graduates, we are open to considering a B.Ed. student.

Requirements:

• B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) graduate or fourth-year students, or other bachelor’s degree programs related to the field of instruction
• TESL (or similar) certification is an asset
• Previous experience as an ESL instructor is an asset
• Previous experience as an Alberta education instructor is an asset
• MUST be able to commute to Calgary, AB for in-person sessions

Courses available for instruction:

-ESL courses:

• Beginner, intermediate, and advanced

Wages:

-In-person sessions: $45-60/hour, for several multi-hour sessions per course

• Each course will be broken into multiple sessions of varying lengths dependent on the day and time
• Campus location: 2451 Dieppe Ave SW, #201, Calgary, AB, T3E 7K1

-Online sessions: $35-50/ hour, which may be used in combination with the in-person sessions

• Each course will be broken into multiple sessions of varying lengths dependent on the day and time
• Meeting place: Microsoft Teams or Zoom

-Wages will be based on instructor experience

*Please note that candidates will be selected for a position on a roster where they will be able to select classes they would like to instruct, pending an adequate registration of students. Selected candidates are not automatically guaranteed a certain number of hours.

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract, Freelance

Salary: $35.00-$60.00 per hour
