The Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee of Manitoba (PGT) is a provincial government Special Operating Agency that manages the affairs of Manitobans who are unable to do so themselves and have no one else willing or able to act on their behalf, as well as administers the estates of individuals residing in Manitoba who have died and who have no one else to act as administrator or executor. The PGT also manages trust money on behalf of individuals under the age of 18 as well as those who are under a legal disability. In addition, the PGT manages the personal and financial affairs of individuals who are incompetent to make independent decisions or who are vulnerable adults.

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Experience verifying and processing various types of receipts (cheques, money orders and other non- cash items) into an electronic database system
  • Experience preparing and reconciling financial reports
  • Experience processing and coding receipts
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines with tight timeframes
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work with department staff, suppliers and other stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Verbal communication skills
  • Computer experience with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel and Outlook) or equivalent applications.

Desired:
  • Experience processing bills/invoices for payment

Duties:
The Mail Cash Clerk is responsible for the entry and verification of a high volume of receipts. The expected receipt system maintains and controls receipts to ensure client monies are received on a timely basis, and if not received, they are followed up as to the corresponding disposition. With general direction from the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Accountant, the Mail Cash Clerk is required to complete the mail cash entries and resolve any area of concern or variances. Timely accurate processing is a requirement of this position. The Mail Cash Clerk is also responsible for manual fee calculations for Account Closures.
