The Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS) prosecutes persons charged with Criminal Code, Youth Criminal Justice Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Public Health Act, and provincial statute offences. The ACPS promotes safe communities by vigorously prosecuting cases involving serious and violent crime and working with individuals and organizations in the community to identify and implement improved and alternative approaches to the administration of criminal justice. In addition, the ACPS develops criminal law policy for the province and supports criminal law consultation with other levels of government.

Role

Alberta Crown Prosecution Service is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed individual to serve as the Assistant Manager in the Edmonton Crown Prosecutors’ Office. If you are interested in working in the criminal justice system, have administrative and budget/variance experience, and enjoy finding solutions to unique problems, this position may be for you.

Working with the Manager, you will be responsible for the broad and diverse day-to-day operational duties of the office. Duties will include administering pay and benefits; budget variance and forecasting; and facility and equipment management. You will utilize your well-developed written skills to contribute to the creation, revision and updating of various forms, reports and manuals, as well as other projects as required. This position may also carry a portfolio of direct supervision of support staff. Proven administrative, communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will need to apply these skills in your interaction with a variety of contacts – prosecutors, staff, vendors, departmental managers, infrastructure and the public.

As Edmonton Prosecutions is comprised of 175+ employees, it is critical that the successful candidate be able to maintain close attention to detail and meet deadlines while managing a high volume of work.

Qualifications


Two year diploma in a related field plus two years progressively responsible office administrative experience is required; Financial, budget/variance and supervisory experience is preferred.


Equivalencies will be considered:

Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of: one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.


Required:
Experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.


Asset:
Experience with 1GX Human Resource and Financial systems will be an asset.

Experience working in a legal environment would be preferred and experience in a government environment is an asset.

Salary

$2,185.54 to $2,692.08 bi-weekly, $57,042.60 to $70,263.29 Anually

Hours of work: 8:15AM - 4:30PM, Monday to Friday (36.25 hours/week).
